Michael's Client Newsletter #145, April 2024

Greetings Valued Clients, welcome to my April Client Newsletter #145 for the goal-focused, long-term, equity investor.

So, how can you legally defer or eliminate taxes on your retirement accounts? IRAs, of course! In the case of traditional IRAs you can delay paying taxes on the interest earned until you start withdrawals at retirement. In the case of Roth IRAs (if you qualify) you never pay taxes on your earnings (it’s the only 100% tax-free account, other than 529-Plans, in America).

You have only two weeks left (April 15th) to contribute to your IRA for 2023. Below are the maximum limits you can contribute based upon your age. However, I can open an IRA for as little as $250, and add as little as $100 to an existing account. Let me know if I can help you do so.

Year age < 50 age 50+
2023 $6,500 $7,500
2024 $7,000 $8,000
  • 401(k) limit increases to $23,000 for 2024

Start Now. Your Future Self Will Thank You.

According to research published by Age Wave (“Longevity and the New Journey of Retirement”, 2022) retirees started saving at an average age of 38. Yet, when you ask them when they should have started saving, they will tell you age 29.

For over 34 years I’ve tried to build my business by offering a second opinion to those who may need investment advice. As a result, my business now comes almost exclusively via introductions from existing clients.
